CLINTON — The village of Clinton reported a discharge of wastewater from its wastewater treatment plant happened Sunday to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy and the Lenawee County Health Department.

When the village lost power on Sunday, the backup generator at the wastewater treatment plant did not automatically start. While the staff was setting up a portable pump, about 50 gallons of wastewater was discharged to the River Raisin. Treatment plant operators were able to make repairs to the backup generator which allowed the treatment plant to operate fully until power was restored about three hours later.
