The subject to be considered at the Christian Endeavor meeting on Sunday afternoon is “Spread the Kingdom.” In charge of the meeting is Esther Englund.

The business of Moses and Edelman has grown so rapidly that it has become necessary to have more room. A new building 65x25 feet will be erected on the south of their present store to be used as a clothing department while the rear annex will be a grocery department.

Druggist Kehrer is having a retaining wall constructed on the creek bank adjoining his property at low water mark which will reach above his water and protect his property overflow and damages from the annual rising of the water banks of Sand Creek.

A project has been progressing rapidly toward the construction of a local telephone exchange for this city and it is meeting success.

S.A. Bowler attended the meeting of the Republican county committee on Saturday. He is in the field for Register of Deeds.

The 10 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Steckman underwent surgery at the New Prague hospital Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Vern Seger and family have moved into the apartment over their grocery on Water Street – the Roderig family home for many years. Present owners J.H. Grams remodeled the living quarters recently.

Mr. and Mrs. LaRoy Brenke and children visited with relatives on the 102nd anniversary of of the Beises in America. Mrs. Brenke is the former Thersia Beise.

The purpose of the Outstanding Young Women of America program is to recognize young women between the ages of 21 and 35 for their exceptional contribution to the betterment of their community. Selected were Sister Janet Wermerskirchen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roman Wermerskirchen and Jane Klehr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Math Klehr.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Simmonds announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Charmine, to David Wolf, son of Mr. and Mrs. Werner Wolf.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Lindquist have finally heard from their daughter Marguerite (Linky) whom they had not hear from Feb. 20. She is working as a medical assessor in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mrs. Lloyd Schneiderhan and twin daughters, Jane and Joan attended a bridal shower in honor of their daughter and sister, Carol. Carol will marry Willard Weber from St. Cloud on Sept. 16.

Hilda Nachbar, Lorraine Kreuser, Agnes Wolf, Odelia Riesgraf, Hedwig Riesgraf, Joan Gregory, Judy Gregory, Lucy Riley, Anna Wolf, Margaret Rogge, Jean Sunder and Catherine Stemig went to friendship manor to help Anna Linn to celebrate her 93rd birthday.

Pete Hedstrom, a graduate from Bemidji State College, son of Earl and Margaret Hedstrom, has accepted a head football coaching job at Rushford, MN.

Calvary Cemetery in Jordan was vandalized Saturday, possibly in the early part of the morning. A count of 110 (unofficial) tombstones and monuments were pushed over, some permanently destroyed. Many of the tombstones and monuments date back to the 1900’s.

Former Jordanite Ray Ruppert visited one day last week. Now residing in New Jersey, Ray is a JHS graduate of the class of 1940.

He was highly impressed about all the improvements the city has made and how beautiful the parks are.

Radermacher’s Super Valu in Jordan and Prior Lake received recognition from Super Valu, Inc. for their 35 years of affiliation with Super Valu store owners Lee and Marilyn Radermacher. According to the store manager, Steve Rademacher, son of Lee and Marilyn, his grandfather, Roman, bought and opened their first store in 1954, 38 years ago.

Jordan has hosted the Minnesota State Baseball Amateur Tournament in 1969, 1973 and 1981 and this year, it is the first time, ever, that Jordan is playing in home field.
